Bald Is Beautiful Too
31 Jan
Losing all of your hair, especially for women, can be a very upsetting experience. I chose to shave my head before chemotherapy because I couldn’t deal with the idea of long wisps of wavy brown hair coming out by the handful. Once I had sufficiently mourned my mane and gotten used to people staring at me in the street, I realized that I didn’t mind it. Bald can become beautiful too!

Susu, you’ve been blessed with an esthetically beautiful head. The rest of you is pretty wonderful also!
Looking lovely indeed!
Ta tu go h-alainn! (in Irish, “you are beautiful!”)
Hi, Suleika, I agree with Susan Ayari! I remember that very warm late afternoon when this photo was taken and it was lovely being with you!
Suleika – you have a perfectly beautiful head! I recognize the photo as being taken at Yaddo
We met at the Saratoga Library, when you spoke at the Team in Training meeting. I am the running coach. Thank you for sharing your story, and for sharing your blog. It is wonderful and honest and raw, and helps bridge the gap of understanding and awareness.
Very beautiful!
Yes..i agree your head is shaped perfectly..somebody needs to make a sculpture of you! But the sculpture could not capture your grace!
you are beautiful—i need to draw you!! amazing posts babe— misses kisses xoxo
Sometime, I have the strange idea that we should all choose to do that to learn humbleness. Isn’t that something certain monks do?!
You are beautiful no matter what in and out.
Thank you for sharing your life with all of us. It is such a gift you are giving.
Beautiful, thank you for sharing. I am starting chemo soon and consumed with this world. Wonderful to see how beautiful bald can be! Love this!
Bald is beautiful! Suleika, you remind me of another friend who recently spent a few months at a Buddhist monastery in India and she decided to shave her hair. Like you, she has beautiful facial features which were further emphasized by the lack of hair. You rock the bald look!
I’ll repeat what’s been said here already: you’ve got the head for it! But I suspect we’ve all got the head for it but aren’t daring or confident enough to embrace hairlessness. Society needs a good reminder that bald is beautiful. We have so many hangups about hair, don’t we? Like that’s the worst possible thing about aging, getting sick, genetics. It’s a new shedding, the start of a powerful new beginning. May you have an incredible journey and recovery! Your true beauty is really shining through.
